Peaches

6/18/2013
This one is from our oldest peach. I got it from the mail a few years after moving in this house. However DH ran it over a few time with a lawn mower and still grew. It used to be a nectarine, well I bought a nectarine but turned out it is a peach tree.

The other two (smaller once) we bought on the spring of 2011 have some fruits too. I can easily reach them. The fruits already have some marks that something is living in them. So, I picked and throw them under the trees at the end of our property.

I tried adding the pictures I took from them, but somehow blogger kept on flipping it the wrong way. I was able to post a tall pictures with my last post and today I am not allowed. Something screwy. Hoping not much comes down from these bunch.

Lots of Cleaning

For the yard that is. We did our gravel driveway, put all the rocks that got pushed to the side and the lawn back our driveway. I used the children little hoe, it worked great. We had to fill-up some deep part too, because when DH plowed it during snow, he tend to plow to the left side and the truck tires gets to the soft part.

We also burned a lot of sticks from the trees, string trimmed all the weeds that are growing too fast and put the filter to the swimming pool. Yes, it's still cold and the children is not ready for it yet. However, we are seeing 70 degree F during the day in a few days or in a week.

Our garden spot is not mix yet. If we are lucky and no rain for the next week or so, we will be able to do so, then cover it with black plastic until the weather warm-up.

A few of the blueberry might not come back this year. I don't see any sprout/buds in them. We lost one plum tree and the rest of the fruit trees are doing well, including the one and only Elderberry. I am looking to planting several herb this year and hopefully I can find a place where I don't have to move them again next year. Crossing my fingers. So, how are you this fine spring month?

There are not much on the tree at this time. From storm with strong winds, most these little fruits did not made it. Except for blueberries, their counts are still the same from the start.

Some of the Fruit Trees

This ones are my dwarf blueberries. Not really, they get up to 6 feet tall. We are planning on putting it as ornamental plant at the front of the house where is always sunny. We also bought one elderberry for medical purpose. The flowers can be use as tea.

Below are some of the fruit trees. DH still need to trim some of the branches out back. Since our yard don't have much trees, the ones on the property line is leaning towards the empty spot. Those branches need to come down for the fruit trees to get enough sun.

When we bought the fruit trees, the people who works there told us that we are planting an orchard. Orchard for a family of six. I will be doing a lot jamming and canning with the fruits.

List of what we have:
3 peaches trees
3 apples trees
3 pear trees
3 plum trees
5 blueberry bushes
1 elderberry

Yes, you can say we are planting an orchard. I also have one branch of peach inside the house I am trying to root. Experimenting to have more around the house. I think we will have enough to feed the whole street...lol.
